Background and Expertise
Strategic planning: For 25+ years, I’ve held leadership positions in large and small nonprofit organizations, leading short and long-term strategic planning. I served as an advisor for two philanthropic foundations, supporting strategy development. I was also a coach for state and local education leaders nationwide, engaging in strategic planning and systems change. As a consultant, I facilitate strategic planning for nonprofit community organizations.
Proposal development: I have extensive experience in fund development, leading grants strategy and writing grant proposals for nonprofits, consistently awarded grants from private foundations, corporate foundations, and state and federal agencies for multidisciplinary initiatives. I am well versed in conducting prospect research and cultivating funder relationships. I respond to Request for Proposals (RFPs) and have been invited by funders to submit proposals. I also served as an advisor for philanthropic foundations.
Program and resource development: I have directed the design and implementation of multidisciplinary programs nationwide geared for leaders, educators, and youth in K12 districts, postsecondary institutions, and nonprofit organizations. The types of programs include leadership development, teacher trainings, technical assistance, coaching and train-the-trainer models, youth development, and curriculum development, across a range of content areas. As an outgrowth of the programs I designed, I’ve developed a range of resources, including frameworks, toolkits, case studies, concept papers, and other materials.
Research practice partnerships (RPPs): For over a decade, I have worked in and with research practice partnerships, advancing collaborative education research at the local and state level. I coach researcher practitioner teams, facilitate data analysis with an equity lens, document insights and facilitate decision-making, conduct workshops on evidence-based change, facilitate root cause analysis and knowledge exchange, cultivate relationships across institutions, serving as broker and connector to help RPPs improve education. Previously and for over 20 years, I led teacher professional development programs and education R&D initiatives across the nation. I am forever grateful to so many teacher leaders who contributed to my professional growth. I am a member of the brokers subnetwork of the National Network of Education RPPs.
